Dear CPG members and friends,

The plans for the Eric Fawcett Fall Forum and Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Toronto are now well advanced. Thanks to the initiative of Metta Spencer, the Fall Forum, on the theme of "Zero Nuclear Weapons", is developing into a magnificent set of panels and activities. We also benefit from several co-sponsors of the Forum: Science for Peace; Physicians for Global Survival; and Canadian Voice of Women for Peace.  Participants for the program are confirmed.  We are fortunate to have the Toronto City Council Chamber for both the Forum and the AGM. The general public is invited and strongly encouraged to attend the Forum. The AGM is for members only.

Please mark your calendars so we can benefit from your participation. Invite your friends and family!

I much look forward to seeing you in Toronto! With warm regards in a great cause,

SCREENING SCHEDULE FOR THE STRANGEST DREAM

The new NFB film "The Strangest Dream" highlights the herculean efforts of the physicist Sir Joseph Rotblat in the quest for nuclear disarmament. It is an inspiring film that will give Pugwash and nuclear disarmament a real boost, coming at a time when the prospects and possibilities for nuclear disarmament are rapidly brightening. We owe a debt of gratitude to the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) for producing this worthy tribute to Jo and his (our) cause.

Several members of Canadian Pugwash have cooperated with NFB to organize screenings in their cities.  Confirmed screenings will be listed on the NFB website:  www.nfb.ca/strangestdream (click screenings). Those who want to organize additional screenings can contact either Walter Dorn and/or  Susan Nosov, head of Marketing at NFB, now devoting her time to this special project of partnership with Canadian Pugwash. Pugwashites will  speak after a number of the screenings and we will try to get some press for this, especially as we hope there will be a hunger to know what civil society and governments, particularly the Obama administration, can and will do in the field of nuclear disarmament.
